PALACE CASINO RESORT TO REOPEN ALL NEW CASINO, RESTAURANTS AND LOUNGE JUNE 14

Biloxi, Miss. – After being closed for two weeks for transfers of power and technology, inspections and other preparations, the Palace Casino Resort will reopen on June 14 to reveal its second floor expansion, including an all-new casino, restaurants and lounge.

General Manager Keith Crosby says, “People won’t understand or appreciate the extent of change that’s taken place until they see it firsthand.  The buffet opening gave our guests a taste of what’s to come.  On June 14, they’ll see just how spectacular the scope of the project is.  When the project is complete in late summer, the Palace will look like a brand new property.”

The new gaming floor is at the center of the second floor expansion.  The spacious, open area will initially house hundreds of new slot machines and 20 table games.  Upon completion of construction and the opening of the high limit gaming area in late summer, there will be a total of 1,100 slot machines and 26 tables.  Cuningham Group, the architectural firm for the project, based the design on boat metaphors, combining unique wood detailing and curved shapes.  Contemporary colors, specialty lighting features, and a mixture of materials and textures create a lively atmosphere.  Surrounding the gaming floor are the new restaurants and lounge, allowing guests to easily find their destination.

Contact Lounge & Sports Bar is located at the farthest end of the gaming floor.  The venue features 165 seats, a video poker bar, high definition and projection televisions for viewing of sporting events, and a stage for live entertainment and other casino events.  The rich palette of red, brown and gold colors and plush furnishings provide a sophisticated, yet comfortable setting.  Contact will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week and will feature live music on Fridays and Saturdays from 8 p.m. to 12 a.m.  A large variety of draft beer options will be available, including the top four domestic brands and 18 craft beers and imports, like Lazy Magnolia, Stella Artois, Guinness and Heiner Brau Strawberry.

Directly across the gaming floor from Contact is the all-new Palace Buffet, which opened on April 18.  The 4,500-square-foot, 300-seat buffet features live and interactive cooking stations in a bright, modern atmosphere.  “Flames” features prime rib, pork chops and other grilled items, cooked to the guests’ desired temperature.  “Comfort” offers Southern favorites like fried chicken.  “Wok” is where guests can create their own cuisine by choosing the vegetables, meats, sauces and spices of their choice.  “Coastal” offers fresh boiled seafood and personalized pasta.

STACKED grill, offering “Burgers & Everything In Between,” is located next to the buffet.  It provides seated dining for 56 guests in a colorful, contemporary setting.  Burgers are the highlight of the menu, with traditional options, mini burgers and specialties like the “Philly.” Turkey, Tuna and Crab are among the other burger options.  Salads, steaks, snacks and shakes round out the selection.  STACKED is open seven days a week.  Breakfast is served daily until 11 a.m. and features “The Breakfast Burger,” steak and eggs, pancakes, waffles and more.

Adjacent to STACKED grill is the Palace Café & Bakery, which will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.  The 16-seat café will serve fresh baked goods and desserts, coffee, sandwiches, salads and other quick, easy options.

The interior of the new casino, restaurants and lounge will be smoke free.  Smoking will be allowed outside the main building, and a new $1 million smoking lounge has been created to accommodate smokers.  The smoking lounge is conveniently located in close proximity to the gaming floor, restaurants and lounge/sports bar.  It features comfortable furnishings, flat-screen televisions and its own air conditioning and heating system.

Construction will continue at the Palace through the end of summer 2011.  The hotel lobby, atrium, spa, fitness center, gift shop, meeting rooms, Mignon’s Lounge and a high limit gaming area will be the last to be revealed with the completion of the project.
